From Cavaillon to Lurs (Alpes de Haute-Provence), covering 185,000 hectares, the Luberon Regional Nature Park is home to an exceptional diversity of fauna and flora that you can discover through the remarkable architectural heritage and magnificent landscapes.
The Luberon, land of character and tradition, is revealed in the hillside perched pretty villages such as Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Ménerbes, Joucas, or by traveling the road of the castles with Ansouis, 10th century military fortress; Lourmarin and its Renaissance castle or that of Lauris superbly overlooking the Durance.
Joucas, our small village of 300 inhabitants is situated on a small hill of the Monts de Vaucluse facing an agricultural plain. Quaint and charming, it has preserved its beautiful cobbled streets (old-fashioned as a staircase) lined with pretty stone houses; its oil mill, partly troglodyte with its old millstone and mechanism; its press, chimney and vats.
Joucas offers magnificent views of the ocher cliffs.
Nearby, the beautiful 12th century Notre-Dame Abbey of Senanques surrounded by lavender fields ... To the riches of tits fabulous architectural heritage, a nature with lush vegetation and superbly sculpted reliefs complete this landscape.
Canyon-like quarries, the famous ocher cliffs or "Colorado Provençal" are a good example.
Breathtaking landscapes ... an explosion of colors, which you can discover from Roussillon to Rustrel using the various hiking trails.
Take the opportunity to visit the Ocher and Color Conservatory in Roussillon and the Bruoux mines in Gargas.
